RED FEMINIST RADIO’s 6TH INSTALLMENT: Stand with Grace against Violence Against Women & Trans-border Stalking

September 14, 2012

Contact: Jollene Levid, AF3IRM National Chairperson

Monday, September 17th marks the sixth installment of the groundbreaking monthly radio program “Red Feminist Radio” presented by AF3IRM. Listen to the newest episode on Radio Sombra, streaming worldwide at

The sixth episode is a special installment focused on the “Stand With Grace” campaign. Ms. Grace Grande decided to end her status as a mistress of her abuser, the former politician, who is aligned with politically powerful dynasties in her home province in the Philippines. Hear about her courageous escape, her subsequent detention by ICE, and her continuous struggle to keep herself and her children safe from her abuser.

The episode continues with AF3IRM Los Angeles member Gayle Palma and Coordinator Angela Bartolome as they situate Grace’s case in the context of the ongoing political attacks on im/migrant women. Angela and Gayle discuss the systemic dismantling of the Violence Against Women Act by the right-wing. They also present the phenomenon of trans-border stalking and how listeners can resist and support the “Stand With Grace” campaign.

The episode is hosted by AF3IRM National Chair Jollene Levid and was edited by Marco Amador. Future episodes in development will continue to bring light to AF3IRM’s focus on transnational culture and communities, especially the transnational woman, as well as explore and define women’s activism and organizing across ethnic divides.
